  I Could Really Use A Friend

  Service meeting topic: Masturbation

  one of my strangest memories of going to the kh was when a young- maybe 18-20, pimply young man got up to talk about jhvhs view of masturbation during a service meeting.. of course, it was impossible to think about him not masturbating.

  i was just hitting puberty and found the whole thing very uncomfortable- i think my dad was even critiquing him (what is that called when elder gives the feedback).

  looking back now i can see that to publicly condemn masturbation, especially when a young man is delivering this admonition, is- well- hilarious.

  1.the organization itself denies access to reality and substitutes its own version, interpretations and meanings.. a.only watchtower approved publications are allowed.. b.no higher education is to be pursued.. c.no non-jw friends or associations are encouraged with their "outside" points of view.. d.no free-style questioning of doctrine or criticism permitted.

  curiousity is verboten.. e.threat of being "marked" or disassociated looms over them.

  2.between every real-world event and the rank and file jw's mind is a roadblock.. a.the moment of identifying is short-circuited by an interpretive moment of re-labeling in watchtower-speak.. b.all things happening are forced into a narrow storyline and propagandized as end times happenings leading to armageddon.. 3.social and personal identity is expunged and replaced by a collective persona: "jehovah's witness".. a.private thinking is red-flagged as selfish and sinful.. b.personal improvement, welfare and ambition is crushed and door-to-door ministry substituted as "worthy" endeavors.. c.self-conscious obsession permeates witness awareness as each person is transformed into a public spectacle of performance for judgement.. d.since you aren't an individual you don't really have a right to fall in love and marry or educate or earn.

  I am currently watching a good person change into the Stepford role of an obedient JW, rapidly losing their individual identity. All the personality is being sucked out of them. Exactly.

  my inspiration comes from the ingredients i have at hand, very often leftovers, and also home grown produce, herbs and spices.

  i still have a lot to learn, but i have come a long way since i first started cooking for mr cedars.. i think the first recipe on this thread should by the one that oodad has posted on other thread.... .

  DarioKehl- Very moving post and a powerful statement.

  Damn right, I'm angry! I guess I'm in the anger phase of my awakening and escape. I savor every second of life, knowing this is all I'll have, and I'm unable to convey this to my JW friends or family. I cannot explain to them how epic their mistake is. I feel helpless, knowing that they'll never wake up and realize the things I realize. On days like this, I want to do something about it! When I calm down, I realize that it's not in my best interests to do anything but enjoy my prize of life in secrecy. This hurts.

  I am happier and more emotionally stable than ever before having shed that poisonous WT mindset, but I cannot share this exuberance with those I care most about. My one wish would be to see something happen--a scandal, a shakedown, a change in doctrine so unsettling that millions inside will awaken and leave. But Terry's Top Ten List is a great reminder why most would remain inside even if something devastating happened to watchtower.

  the title of the new steve hassan book is " freedom of mind - helping loved ones leave controlling people, cults and beliefs " .

  very good information even in the 1st chapter called " cult common denominators " .

  just wanted to share some high points my wife and i gleaned from it !.

  Hi Flipper- Thanks for the info. Coincidentally, I just ordered this book today!!! I find the whole cult thing to be the shocking part of the JW's. I knew for a long time that so many things that they said and did were wrong- but I NEVER would have believed I was in a CULT!!!!!!

  Years ago, my sibling was indoctrinated into an "EST" type LGAT and I completely knew that was a cult.

  So, I'm looking forward to reading it. And hopefully discussing with others.

Terry, If the staff should come in your room with masks and gowns donned, it will either be for a party, a quarantine or may be time for them to give you..................................................... the BIG E for your B.M. prob!!!

If there is a scriptural reference you believe that debunks the FDS doctrine, post it, and we will examine it.

  I'm not going to attack your character, or name call, nor will I attack your beliefs. You have a right to believe what you believe.

  I've been posting here for 2 months and do not, as a self-imposed rule, discuss scriptures- at this time. And I lurked here for a while before I ever posted.

  So, I am just curious why someone who so strongly believes that the F&DS is real and the WTS doctrine is correct has come here, if you don't have doubts?
